About the Congressional Intern Scholarship Program

The USC Alumni Club of the Nation's Capital Congressional Intern Scholarship Program offers assistance to USC undergraduates who wish to intern in a Congressional office.

In addition to receiving a scholarship of between $1,500 and $2,250, successful applicants will be placed in an internship in the office of one of two USC alumnae, Rep. Mary Bono (R-CA) or Rep. Hilda Solis (D-CA). (A preference of Congressional office must be indicated at the time of application.) Recipients also will take part in events sponsored by the USC Club of the Nation's Capital.

Study in Washington may be undertaken during either the spring or summer session of the academic year during which the application is submitted. The award is contingent upon the recipient undertaking an accredited program of study, as well as upon completion of the internship.

All applicants must plan a future career in the area(s) of government, public policy/public administration, international affairs, international trade and economics, development, media or any other field relating to domestic and/or international policy. Applicants will be selected on the basis of GPA, a well-rounded collegiate experience (as indicated on a submitted résumé), and a personal statement. Finalists will be take part in telephone interviews conducted by the USC Alumni Club of the Nation's Capital in conjunction with participating Congressional offices. Scholarship recipients will be notified in November.
