Scholarships

The primary fundraising goal of the USC Club of the Nation's Capital is to provide financial assistance to new and returning USC students from the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Money raised through membership fees, event tickets and donations to the club helps support and cultivate current USC students - future USC alumni - through alumni club scholarships.

We currently fund two separate scholarships programs - USC Alumni Club Scholarships and Congressional Intern Scholarships.

Alumni club scholarships are merit-based and awarded geographically based on the proximity of an alumni club to the applicant's hometown. The USC Club of the Nation's Capital awards scholarships to students from Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Awards range from $1,000 to $4,000 per year. Scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated academic strength, leadership and community involvement. The deadline for 2009-2010 applications is December 1, 2008.

The USC Alumni Club of the Nation's Capital Congressional Intern Scholarship Program offers assistance to USC undergraduates who wish to intern in a Congressional office. In addition to receiving a scholarship of between $1,500 and $2,250, successful applicants will be placed in an internship in the office of one of two USC alumnae, Rep. Mary Bono (R-CA) or Rep. Hilda Solis (D-CA). The deadline for 2009-2010 applications is December 1, 2008.
